Skilled Carpenter/Framer

Job Description

The ideal candidate must have experience in framing and residential construction. Must be able to work well as part of a team as well as independently. Must understand the importance of adhering to project deadlines. Understand the importance of attention to detail and take pride in their work.

To carry out the duties in this job, the successful candidate must have their own basic hand tools and the ability to use hand and power tools. It is also essential to be able to read blueprints. Basic, proficient mathematical skills are needed to carry out measurements.  The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and enjoy being outdoors in various weather conditions. They will embrace physical labour, take direction well, have a positive attitude and be willing to learn new tasks.

Job Duties:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in carpentry / framing
  • Dismantle or demolish and remove designated items prior to the commencement of repairs.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints, sketches and drawings in addition to verbal and written descriptions to accomplish the job
  • Analyze construction blueprints and plans to create timeline, project layouts, and resource needs.
  • Prepare, build, repair, and remodel project elements as needed
  • Select lumber, materials and supplies.
  • Experience in residential framing
  • Framing/Forming
  • Installation of windows and doors
  • Installation of insulation and vapor barrier
  • Installation of exterior cladding
  • Installation of interior finishes
  • Experience in finished carpentry considered an asset
  • Build closets, counters, shelves, cabinets, doors, windows and other related finish carpentry items.
  • Ensuring all work is done in accordance to standard building practices, design specifications and Ontario Building Code & OHSA.
  • Loading, unloading or moving building materials to the appropriate locations
  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools
  • Other Duties as assigned

Experience:

Carpentry: Minimum 3-5+ years (Preferred)

Education:

Skilled Trade Certificate (Preferred)

Schedule/Hours:

  • Starting ASAP
  • 8-10 hour shift
  • Hourly Position with full-time hours year round, potential for full-time permanent

 Salary:

$25-$32/hr

Licence:

Driver’s license and own vehicle for travel to and from job sites. (Required)
